No, I don't think blogging is dead. Using your blog to start discussions, build relationships and be more transparent about your skills and services is a very effective marketing tool. Although Twitter, Facebook, etc, can help businesses build a tribe, funneling back to a blog is the way to go because here you can show so much more than just 140 characters or a status update. I was interested by your comment that "most...visitors never visit this blog". It seems to be me that you're promoting it quite well on the front page of your site with the large RSS button and headline. Why not try listing the five most recent headlines and compare conversion? Or put the Blog ad somewhere else higher up the page. I always tell clients the best thing to do if you're not getting enough conversions is to tinker around but track your data for better leverage.
